Katy Jacoby

Katy majored in Theatre Arts and also pursued a minor in Broadcast Journalism at Temple University. After running a theatre company for 13 years in LA and NYC, it was time to venture out do one of the things she believes in the most, arts education.  Katy has performed in a number of theatre productions around LA and NYC, performing in original and published work, musicals and festivals . She workshopped a new musical written by Fat Mike (NOFX), Soma Snakeoil and Jeff Marx (Avenue Q) for over 2 years in LA and NY.  TV Credits include, "Days of Our Lives", "General Hospital", "Blunt Talk", "The Mindy Project", "Young and the Restless", and "The League".  Katy currently teaches at the Orange County School of the Arts.

Matthew Morrison​

Matthew is an American actor, dancer, and singer-songwriter. He is known for starring in multiple Broadway and Off-Broadway productions, including his portrayal of Link Larkin in Hairspray on Broadway, and for his role as Will Schuester on the Fox television show Glee. Morrison received a Tony Award nomination for his featured role as Fabrizio Nacarelli in the musical The Light in the Piazza.  He starred as the lead role of J.M. Barrie in the Broadway production of Finding Neverland.


Rick Messina

Rick Messina currently works at Rachel Tenner Casting.  Casting Director Credits include: VUDU / MGM series Mr. Mom, the Audience Network series Hit the Road starring Jason Alexander and the Viceland series What Would Diplo Do?, starring James Van Der Beek.  Prior he worked with McCarty/Abellera Casting as a Casting Director on the STARZ series Blunt Talk starring Patrick Stewart and as an Associate Casting Director on the Netflix Series Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later and the Sony feature Jumanji staring Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart & Jack Black. Past projects include: The TBS pilot World's End written by Jonathan Ames, the FOX Series The Grinder starring Rob Lowe and Fred Savage, The New Line Cinema feature Keanu and CBS films' Middle School, The Worst Years Of My Life.  He recently served as casting director on the independent movie After The Reality starring Matthew Morrison & Sarah Chalke. He also worked on 3 seasons of the hit Comedy Central series, Workaholics starring Adam Devine, Anders Holm and Blake Anderson.   Rick has also helped to cast the Disney feature Tomorrowland starring George Clooney, and two pilots for ABC, The Pro starring Rob Lowe and An American Education starring Jack Whitehall and Rosie Perez.  Rick has worked on two Amazon pilots, Betas and Bowsers and the WB/CW pilot The Carrie Diaries produced by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage (The OC, Gossip Girl).  Prior to that, Rick served as a casting associate for the number one rated soap, The Young and the Restless.  Rick has worked on such projects as Parenthood, United States of Tara, Enlightened, Terra Nova, Temple Grandin starring Claire Danes, and Yes Man with Jim Carrey. While working in New York, Rick helped to cast several Broadway shows, including Nine to Five, Wicked, Cry Baby, and Legally Blonde with the renowned casting director, Bernie Telsey. Rick graduated from California State University, Fullerton with a bachelor of arts in theatre arts/film with a minor in business.  Rick is also an alumnus from the Orange County School of the Arts.

Jake Anthony - Instructor

Jake Anthony works as a sought after vocal coach, accompanist, music director, and clinician in Los Angeles. Along with co-director Joshua Finkel, he created the Performers’ Workshop, where actors get to hone their audition technique in a nurturing environment, learning to connect emotionally to the song, and letting that connection show up in the audition room. Possessing an encyclopedic knowledge of musical theater repertoire, Jake takes great joy in finding the perfect song and cut for each performer. For the last 12 years, he’s maintained a successful private vocal studio in Hollywood, focussing on the reduction of tension, embracing the resonance, and a constant and dedicated connection to the breath. Past and present clients include Autumn Reeser (“Entourage”), Jesse Tyler Ferguson (“Modern Family), and Krystal Joy Brown (Bwy’s “Motown, the Musical”).  Jake holds a BM from the University of Michigan and a Masters of Music from the University of North Texas.

Louie Avila - Instructor

Best known for his portrayal of Boq in the musical WICKED, Louie has become the go-to vocal coach for singers looking to improve their vocal ability and booking potential.  Specializing in the audition process, clients consistently see results in the audition room and on stage. A healthy vocal approach in combination with authentic storytelling is applied to develop a singers’ unique potential.  Clients range from celebrity Recording Artists and Television Actors to working musical theatre performers throughout southern California. Additionally, Louie is a professional accompanist and musical director having worked with Musical Theatre West (MTW), 3D Theatricals (3DT), and Michael Donovan Casting.  A successful career in show business has paved the way to a road as an arts educator, with faculty positions at The Orange County School of the Arts (OCSA), The American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA), and The Speech Level Singing Summer Intensive (SLS). Louie is a proud member of SAG-AFTRA and AEA. Among his many professional credits, some favorites include Life In Pieces (CBS), The Politician (Netflix), and Prince Chulalongkorn in The King and I (National Tour).  “The pedagog I have cultivated is through first hand knowledge from working as a professional. I understand the current industry challenges placed on the voice so there is nothing theoretical about what I teach. I give my clients a strong foundation and healthy approach which yields results.” Louie has trained extensively with vocal coach to the stars Seth Riggs.

Joe Abraham - Dance Instructor

Joe Abraham is a veteran performer and teacher who has been working in show business for nearly 20 years… He has been on Broadway and around the country in shows such as Hairspray, Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Shrek The Musical, CATS, Singin’ in the Rain and Young Frankenstein… among others.  On television Joe has appeared in shows such as S.W.A.T., UnREAL, Revenge, Hart of Dixie, How to Get Away with Murder, and the FX Mini Series American Crime Story: The People vs. OJ Simpson.  He also made his feature film debut working with Clint Eastwood in Jersey Boys.

Joe has a passion for teaching and has his first book titled The Thriving Artists is now recommended or required reading in theater departments at several major universities across the country.  The Thriving Artists teaches young performers how to live an inspired life, build an empowered career, and all while having plenty of money in the bank while doing it! 


Joe’s Audition Workshop is a truly transformative experience for all participants involved.  Joe takes students through all of the facets of what it takes to succeed not only in a Broadway level audition, but also in any interview or high-stakes situation.  This workshop gives everyone specific tools to deal with fear, how to perform under pressure, and insider tips on how to actually enjoy the process!  Students leave with a new sense of empowerment and a massive feeling of freedom for every audition they have in the future.  ( (
